I bought this and it’s probably Ok if you have older cameras. None of my new PTZ cams are listed, and even though you can check for camera vendor updates, the list of vendors & models doesn’t seem to ever change. I have cameras from HIKVISION, FLIR, REOLINK, DAUHA. Dahua and Hikvision are listed, but only the base driver, no PTZ. Good luck.
When I clicked on the icon in App store to check compatibility and get more info (like in Play Store), instead it automatically started downloading and clipping me for $9.99! And to pour salt on the wound this is a garbage app! Crap would more aptly describe it! Apple should return my money!
this app hasn’t update in long times, need update, for amcrest cameras
Please, Please, Please save yourself the money. This never worked and 4 attempts with customer support coudn’t get it to work either. No refund, just a lost $10. Have tried for months now. Using Foscam FI9831P v2
Many trendnet cameras not available in the compatibility list even tho other models can be somewhat substituted.
I’ve had this program for a few years now and for the most part have been happy with it. There have been a couple occasions where my cameras have disappeared from the app. A bit of an annoyance, but I simply re-added them and moved on. With this newest version, it has happened again, but I can no longer re-add my cameras. I can not select a camera brand from the drop down menu. In addition, before this happened, after a period of time, I could no longer navigate the menus within the app. If I right clicked a camera, the menu would appear and disappear within 1/2 a second. This app needs some major bug squashing.
Menus become unresponsive. I have to shut down program and relaunch.
Yesterday it ran fine, then about 4 hours later all my cameras were gone, I tried to reload them from the backup and the whole screen changed. I contactd the company and was told it was my network. My network is fine. I even uninstalled the program, rebooted. I went as far as rebooting my modem by unplugging it and waiting 10 minutes. Re installed the program and yet, it doesn’t work. I can’t get the vendors option to work. I took a screen shot and sent it to them. Got the same snarky answer that it wasn’t their fault it was my network. I asked if the recent update to the OSX or the OS is El Capitan but have not received any work. I need something that works. My iMac is new, barely 2 weeks old. It is unfortunate for me that there are so few programs that are out there for Foscam for the Mac. So I give them 2 stars at this time and probably will drop down to no stars soon if I can’t get some resolution on this.
At first I was quite pleased playing and testing this out. I enteed several cameras and was playing with the setup. But then I needed to set up recording and that is when things went downhill. 1) recording does NOT work. manual, or otherwise 2) audio and mtion detection does NOT work 3) there is no documentation about where recording would go (if it actually worked) and there is no choice for the user to choose where recordoings go After upgrading to the latest patch 10.5.5 ALL my settings dissappeared. ALL the work I did the night before entering 12 cmaeras was gone. When I went to enter them again the “add camera” window was all MESSED up. You coudl not pick a camera brand, and models were limited to three choices that made no sense. The captions for the rest of the input boxes were so messed up as to be unreadable. REALLY? From one little patch update??? They need a major overhaul for this to be a viable. And I am surprised Apple even lets this trash on their store. I want a refund. DON’T BUY!!!!
Have been purchasing different brand IP cameras and thought I was going to have to either run each of the proprietary suites simutaneously or some other craziness. Just happen to come across this app and I couldn’t beleave it. This application will allow you to setup a bunch of different IP cameras by different makers tweak the settings for them and setup a schedule to record. THANK YOU DEVELOPER, thank you
Have discovered that this app cannot be deleted. It skips frames in normal use, and in trying to fix that it was necessary to delete the app and reload camera specifics. But I cannot delete the specifics. Nor can I delete individual camera profiles. I don’t want to get ahead of things, but security camera violations have occurred on a massive scale in some instances and this may be another instance. I will be in touch with Apple and the Vendor to get to the bottom of this. On the whole, this app has worked better than apps from Trendnet (the camera brand I use), but it is totally unacceptable to load apps that cannot be deleted and which are not secure. UPDATE: Have now gone the full spectrum on this App. Began with 5 stars, then down to 1 star when I discovered it cannot be deleted from Mac, now 3 stars. First, cannot emphasize too much that if you delete apps from Mac, you need to follow with a utility that deletes hidden files left behind. Some apps delete cleanly, but many do not. This app doesn’t appear to delete anything when you remove it from the App file. Means that if someone accessed your computer, they could connect to your cams, or worse. And if you use security cams in parts of your house you want forever private, this may not be very secure. Hard to know because the vendor is not explicit about security. I am using the App again, but it does not interface correctly with the Trendnet cameras I use around the outside of my home. Believe it only displays one of every three frames the cams capture, so it looks like a Keystone Cops segment. But as annoying as that is, it is still better than the software Trendnet offers.
The program works but crashes every few hours. Sent developer a crash report and never heard back. So I give it a 1 for poor support. Fix the crashes and reply to your customers and I would re evaluate.
While not perfect I really love this app. I'm using it with a Foscam FI8910W camera, one Trendnet TV-IP422W camera, and 1 Foscam FI9826P camera. The pan and tilt works great. You can listen to the audio on both the Foscam and Trendnet brands of cameras and use the microphone on your computer to talk through the camera's speakers. I have contacted their technical support about some issues and did receive the appropriate help so that is another plus that they listen and respond to customers. I recommend checking out their website and especially their supported camara list. There is a link to that on their support page don't go by just the summary on the main support page. I've been using this app for over a year now and they keep improving it with updates. It's nice to know they are still actively updating and improving the product. Is this polished great looking and great working software? No, it is not but it does provide a convient way to look at my cameras, supports a wide range of cameras, and is the best software I’ve found for OS X so far. Would I buy it again? Yes.
This program “does” record some video. Hard to say where it is stored, can’t find it. Video playback within the program is awful… can’t scrub can’t start in the middle. It’s unusable. You guys understand i might NEED to look at SECURITY cam video at some point, right? Apparently not. So, you tink, just export that video and you are good…. HA. It will export a file THAT CANNOT BE PLAYED. This program would be awful if it were free. Since I paid for it, I’m insulted. Avoid this crap-ware.
After las update program works OK! Back to 5 stars. Just two small request, 1.- I would like to have the option to group certain cameras and to be able to “show that group”. 2.- Please change your icon! Just follow the design according to new Yosemite OSX styleguide. I really love your software!!!!
Still does not work - even after last 2 updates - same as before... Worked fine for about a week after version 2.1, then dropped my camera - can’t load list of cameras - gives network error. Uninstalled/reinstalled - problem persists...
So far this app has been working great on a 2012 Mac Mini. I have three cameras, a Vivotek and two Axis. The cameras are supported and it was very easy to set cameras up in this app. I have been using uCamPro on my iPhone 6 & 5s for a couple of years. It has been great on the iPhone, so I was hoping the Mac app would be great too and it is.
This viewer works where others don’t for me. I am very pleased with this application.
I think this is the best among the choices available in terms of features, number of cams supported, and basic functionality. Unfortunately for me, it crashes after an hour of running. I have 11 cameras (a mix of foscams and hikvision), and 3 are set up for motion detection and recording. I’ve tried various settings but no help. This is on a brand new Mac Mini without much stuff installed. On my Macbook Air, it crashes any time I try to resize the screen. I never got around to leaving it running and trying to record on motion. Other than crashing, I think the app is great, but unfortunately the crashing makes it unusable.
I have a pair of Dahua IPC-HFW4300S cameras. The video playback looks great on the camera's interface at 1080p H264 30fps. When I add the camera to uNetCams, it changes the encoding to MJPEG 10fps and very low quality, super blotchy. The interesting thing is that is seems that the software supports H264 because if I change the encoding options back to the way I want on the camera, it will show up as a very high quality render in uNetCams for a couple seconds before the software goes and messes up the settings again. I looked through everything, and there are no options to fix this in the software. I've wasted my money. don't waste yours.
best camera app i have.but quit bugging me about rating the app.
In short, this is a four-out-of-five-star rated application. Out of all the ‘cam’ apps out there, this is the best. This seems to be the cleanest interface for cameras out there. It’s clear, responsive and is mostly operable without any instructions. However, the thing that stops it from getting a full five-stars is it’s missing a few ‘obvious’ features that leave you scratching your head as to why they’re not there. For instance, when viewing a camera, you can use the on-screen ‘d-pad’ arrows to pan and tilt your camera around. But why can’t you simply use the arrows on your keyboard? Why must you reach for the mouse at all? You have to take your eyes off of the camera to ‘aim’ your mouse when trying to follow something on the screen with the camera. Using the keyboard, you could keep your eye on the video and potentially not miss something happening. Plus, if this feature were added, then you could hide the ‘control area’ and utilize more of the window for the camera’s preview. This alone knocks it down from five to four stars. Also, the application doesn’t remember where the window was last or what size it is meaning every time you start it up, you have to move and re-siize it again, which is a real pain on multi-monitor systems. Again, this is something you’ve just come to expect in modern applications but it’s surprisingly missing here. Another nice-to-have for multi-monitor systems would be the ability to ‘tear off’ a camera and put it into another window. That way you can have one camera on one screen and a different one on another. This one however I concede may qualify as a ‘pro’ feature but it is something I’d be more than happy to pay for. The other two however really should have been there from the start. That said, it is still my favorite application for cam-watching and is highly recommended. Fix those things mentioned above—especially the keyboard arrows issue—and this would definitely improve its rating.
This is a great app, but it has no ability to display 720p or 1080p 16:10 or 16:9 cameras in their native aspect ratio. It only supports VGA res so the sides are cut off. It’ll talk to the hi-def cameras but you won’t see the resolution or anything but 4:3 aspect ratio. I hope they add this feature. Hi-def cameras have been out for years.
always freezing crashing lagging
Works great for me considering my cameras and network are all wireless. Had a few issues caused by me and support was quick and effective. Highly recommend this app for the one time cost.
Video quallity is good and so in the user interface but the audio is useless regardless of connection speed and quality. Would not recommend at this time.
The latest version of the app is not working anymore. I have the same problem on mac pro, macbook pro and iMac. If that is not fixed quickly I have to find an alternative.
I had the Maverick’s version running fine on Yosemite and I accidentally accepted the new update. Now I am constantly getting Image Error (132)’s. Sometimes reconnecting the camera works, somtimes not. The developer has responded and asked for access to my camera’s. I am a little uneasy about that. The Foscam’s work fine through the Web Gui. If you have the older version adn it’s working fine, don’t take the upgrade. I had zero issues with the older version and now with this one it’s useless. I have no trust in my captures now. The cameras still send me the pictures when the error is up, but no Mac recording then. I wish I had a copy of the older version :( Loved it until this, I just want the old version back….
uNetCams is a great app for monitoring ip cameras. It is very stable and flexible.
I bought this because the website and App store indicate support for Sricam but once purchased, this isn’t an option. I have been unable to find an email link for support and when I click on their website for support, it states to email to the address on the App store (i.e., the one that doesn’t exist). Can anyone share their contact information?
This app crashes immediately upon running after upgrading my Mac to OS X Yosemite. Please update to fix whatever is not compatible.
I have an older TrendNet 312 and thought I could use UnetCams to set up my camera since the software they make is Windows only. You can't do the setup my TrendNet camera with UnetCams and the brief directions are cryptic. For example my camera is listed as a supported camera, but the application only shows some of the model numbers it supports-- the directions don't actually say "if you have one of these cameras, you need to tell the software you have this other one…" There is a colin burried in the list of modle numbers, so if you are clever, you can view the image eventually. The surprise bonus, and why I am keeping UnetCams software, even though you have to do all your setup on a windows machine-- is that the web viewer page that is built into the older cameras, works on a mac browser until you change the IP address on the camera, and then the Java certificate is no longer valid because of the new Java security measures. So if it were not for aps like UnetCams, I would no longer be able to see my camera displayed on a Mac-- so that was a surprise!
I am using this on a mac book pro and it crashes everytime I use it. Over and over it crashes. I have it installed on a macbook pro and a mac desktop both crash often. I would love to love this ap but it just doesnt work
Okay, first of all, this is an app I use everyday. It works. It's easy. The timeline playback is hands down the reason to buy this or ufoscam or any of the camera specific versions of this app. Now, the but… This app quits every couple of days. Easy fix, I just have a calendar script that starts the app (if it's not running) at the times I really need it. And the other problem is that it doesn't allow the screensaver or screen sleep to occur, which defeats the computer's security for those of us who require a password login after screen sleep or screensaver startup. Fix those two problems and you've got a five star app.
It doesn’t support Hikvision, which is a major player; especially with the biggest security companies in my area. Game over, man.
Not enough RTSP Support Need Vivotek RTSP Support. Also needs more customization for video screens. I have 5 cameras and my only options for viewing create 3+ dead video spaces. Why not a vertical or horizontal bar of camera windows? No option to hide the controller/camera list. No OS X Full screen option. This app needs work.
Unet Cams works great on Mac Book Pro. I had problems finding an app that worked with my Axis camera and this one fits the bill.
I use it every day…!!!
ALWAYS FREEZES ALL THE TIME CAN I GET A REFUND ?
There are very limited choices among multi-ip cam apps for OSX. This seems to be the best in terms of camera support and being able to display multiple cameras in a useful manner. However, it crashes all the time. I run it constantly on a dedicated display and I have to restart the app a minimum of twice a day. Sometimes individual cameras will also freeze. Sometimes edit/save of the camera restarts it and sometimes doing that crashes the app. In the meantime, my iSpy server, which handles triggered recording, has no problems with any camera at any time. I wish they made an OSX version or a better web interface. Another annoyance is that it can’t access the PT feature of my Dlink 5020 camera. I have to contol the camera from my (non-UBNTEK) ios app. If there was another OSX app that did what this one does but doesn’t crash all the time, I’d give this one 1 or 2 stars. Since it’s pretty much the only game in town, it gets 3.
This does not work with my dlink dcs 5010L
I have been using this app for a couple of years now. It works well. Enables me to see my dlink cameras on the MAC. This is especially helpful since the dlink web interface only support internet explorer. I have not had any issues with the application. it runs smooth on the mac and has connected to several different cameras without a problem. There are limits though. The documentation is non-existant. Forget about a manual to read. You have to figure things out on your own. They have a support email box that is monitored, but their answers are generally basic. On my dlinks I can set preset positions, but it wasn't clear how to do this. They are listed as 1,2,3,4… in the app. In the dlink web interface you have to name a preset location 1, 2 3, etc. for this feature to work. Easy enough, but was not clearly spelled out anywhere. There is also a patrol mode in this app that should sequence through the presets, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to get it to work. The error message states, "Need to set at least two preset positions in this app." The setup menu is simple. There are no preset configuration points I have found. There are no provisions for setting up custom cameras that are not on the list. You cannot simply set a URL to monitor. I have an isight camera software called IP CAM that I would love to add into the monitoring. It has a simple url to pick up the stream, but it is not supported. It is a great little program. Would be good if they would add support or enable us to create generic cameras with specific URL's.
I had just purchased a Foscam, Panasonic, Axis wireless IP cameras and had great results using it with Windows PC. But having a MacBook Air I wanted an application which I could use everywhere. Well, having tried many different Mac apps for my cameras I have to say that uNetCams has to be the most technically competent and for that matter, very cool application out there.
I purchased this app for my ibaby m3 cameras. I curently have two cameras. This is the only way I have been able to get audio off of the ibaby monitors on my mac computer. It is also really nice to view both cameras at the same time. I sent the developer an email requesting the ability to view two cameras at the same time with out having the black boxes saying no camera. This app was made for people with lots of cameras. It would also be nice to hear the audio from multiple cameras at once. It seems to be limited to one camerea at a time. Also when you switch between cameras you have to hit the audio button again to enable audio. Overall, this app is a quality app that displays video clearly and enable audio on many cameras that dont have solutions for the mac. Thanks for an awesome app and I look forward to seeing some updates.
When I click to move my cameras the apps always crashes and closes. Other than this issue it works pretty well but is way overpriced in my opinion
Just bought this and it does not do audio
Always crashes when I try to move my cameras
This app doesn't really support the Foscam FI9820w. It can only show low-resolution stop-motion images, not the Foscam's full resolution. None of the PTZ functions work. Audio does not work. Position presets do not work. Left/right/up/down does not work. If you press the 'home' button then the camera will point straight at the ceiling and then you can't move it unless you open a web browser and fix it. This app also will prevent your screen saver from activating whether you like it or not. There is no setting for that.
